Minervois / Cuvée Terre de Pepusque

This welcoming couple is passionate about this vineyard stretching around the village of Pépieux and along the foot of the Black mountain, in the Minervois AOC.
The climate there is hot and very dry, but the wind coming down from the mountain brings coolness and scent. This is where the « wine of the Cathars » was born, to which the village owes its reputation, and the home of Syrah with flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant. The vineyard also extends over the Terroir de la Livinière, first « appellation village » in the Langudoc AOC. Taking advantage of this exceptional situation, Renée and Benoît Laburthe came back to work on their grand-father's vineyard in 1986.

Soil and exposure
The Pépusque terroir is located south of the village of Pépieux, on a very windy and hot plateau (in Occitan, Pépusque is « Pech Busca », which means « woodland heights »). The heavy clay soil gives the wine grainy tannins.
Grape Variety
100% Syrah
Traditional method : long maceration with manual punching down of the cap. Maturation on fine lees for 3 months, then in French oak casks for 12 months.
This wine has a powerful nose, starting with notes of citrus fruit, followed by blackcurrant liqueur. On the palate, you still get the blackcurrant liqueur aroma, but also a very noble and inimitable taste of terroir, followed by a fresh finish.
Wine and food pairing
We recommend this wine for aperitif, to enjoy its originality, its blackcurrant liqueur flavour and fresh finish. It will also go well with duck magret and cheeses such as Cantal.
